The Ulm-based automotive chemical specialist has had a great honour bestowed on it. The Soziale Bundesverband Wirtschaft-Bildung-Arbeit Deutschland e.V. (Social Federal Association for Economics, Education and Employment, known as the WBA) is honouring the outstanding commitment of the company group LIQUI MOLY/MÉGUIN by awarding the Goldjupiter business prize for “social market economy” and by appointing the two companies to the European Senate. Independently of this great tribute, managing partner Ernst Prost was also invited to join the European Senate for Economics of Germany’s WBA Economic Committee and appointed senator h.c. in the Federal Senate for Economics and Technology.
The business prize is awarded to small and medium-sized employers who create jobs and training positions, even when times are tough. With the public presentation of the WBA’s top award, Prost is being shown unique appreciation of his entrepreneurial commitment. “I’m very pleased with this award since it is proof of the excellent work achieved by my colleagues and of the successful course of our group,” says the managing partner.
The team is growing and receiving support
At present, the companies in Ulm and Saarlouis employ more than 370 staff – and the number is increasing. “Every month, we employ between five and ten new staff,” says the award winner, describing the personnel development. According to Prost, it is important for companies to create jobs and offer young people the chance to start a career at all times. “As an entrepreneur, I also have a responsibility to society, which I am happy to fulfil,” stresses Prost. The junior sales representative programme, which was started last year, shows how important it is for LIQUI MOLY and MÉGUIN to attract a new generation of staff. The prospective sales representatives attend special training courses – “after all, we know best what demands customers make on our people,” he says, explaining why LIQUI MOLY opted for this approach. The company also trains industrial business management assistants and, for example, employs a student who is studying International Business Administration at the University of Cooperative Education in Stuttgart. Offering employees further training during their careers is also key. “We offer financial support to all those wanting to take a master craftsman diploma or business administrator exam, and the same applies to studying alongside work,” says Prost, totting up the development opportunities on offer.
Spokesperson role for the WBA
The WBA promotes economics, education and employment by focusing its public relations work on issues of economic, regulatory and social policy. These measures are aimed at supporting Germany’s small and medium-sized enterprises by creating jobs and training positions. Partners invited to join Germany’s Economic Committee, the European Senate for Economics, Federal Senate for Economics and Technology and the Federal Economics Convention belong to a select group of 100 figures from the world of business who, as successful employers, promote the WBA’s goals.
